Sound Therapy
What is Sound Therapy Healing? And How can I benefit from it?
Sound therapy uses sounds, music, and instruments to promote physical and mental well-being. It involves projecting external sounds, like those from instruments, vocals, or natural sounds, onto the body to influence energy fields and potentially rebalance the body's energy. Sound therapy can be used for various purposes, including stress reduction, mood enhancement, pain management, and improved sleep.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
How it works:
-
Resonance:
Sound therapy utilizes the principle of resonance, where sounds are projected onto the body. -
Vibrations:
The vibrations from sounds, like those generated by instruments, can influence the body's energy fields. -
Frequency:
Specific frequencies and vibrations are believed to influence the body's energy fields and potentially restore balance.
Sound healing is an ancient wellness practice for healing, relaxation, and self-care. A sound healing session involves lying down in a cozy and comfortable setting, closing our eyes, and focusing on sounds made by music instruments like chimes, gongs, and singing bowls.
Sound vibrations have a pretty powerful effect on our minds and bodies. Research shows us that sound healing can slow down our brain waves and put our bodies in a very relaxed, dreamlike state. It may also be able to help with certain physical and mental health conditions.
A TYPICAL SESSION
Sound healing sessions are often referred to as sound baths because the idea is to bathe in the sounds and let them wash over you.
“A sound bath is a deeply immersive, full-body listening experience that uses sound and simple mindfulness techniques to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to the mind and body,”
Sound healing sessions can be private or as part of a group. Each person sits or lies down on a yoga mat or a massage couch. The therapist may offer you an eye mask, neck pillow, cushion, or blanket, to help you get comfortable. The therapist will guide you to focus on sounds and a variety of overtone-emitting instruments, such as: Crystal bowls, Gong, Himalayan bowls, Drum
While sound healing often creates a deep sense of relaxation, it can sometimes feel intense. You may find yourself feeling happy, angry, or sad about old thoughts or memories that come up for you which may be manifested negative emotions releasing from the body and mind with the aid of sound and vibration, encouraging healing.
Sound healing is an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness, where you unplug from external stimuli and focus on what’s going on within you.
Each session lasts approximately one hour. After the session water is recommended and we can talk about your experiences after the session or in private.
Please note that I am currently in training with the British Association of Sound Therapy to achieve a Group Sound Therapist level diploma. I am now halfway through my course and will be beginning case studies in September 2025 with the aim of qualifying in September 2026!

My mission
My mission with Sound therapy is to help each person find "homeostasis" within the body, mind & emotions. We are all on our own healing journey in this lifetime and the beautiful power of sound connects us to the vibrations of nature all around us. The sound waves and frequencies that we experience during a sound therapy session enable us to reach a deep state of relaxation, where we may experience pain relief and healing from within. Sound frequencies work with our body and emotions, helping to release old negative emotions that we may be resisting and gently helping our bodies & minds to find a place balance & wellbeing.

A typical Sound Therapy Session
When you arrive we will go through a short questionnaire. I will explain how we will be working and what sound session will involve. You will then lie down comfortably and relax to the gentle sound of the instruments. Sessions are generally 1 hour in total
Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended.
